Caliray's Freedreaming Skin Wellness Diffusing Tint Gives Me Dewy, Full

Summer is approaching so, for me, that means figuring out ways to make my makeup routine simple and sweatproof. I'm all about a base that looks like skin but also has coverage and will also last all day — sounds impossible to find, right? Wrong. Introducing the Caliray Freedreaming Skin Wellness Diffusing Tint.

If you've never heard of Caliray, here's what you need to know. Unlike the gazillion celebrity beauty brands out there, Caliray was founded by a beauty veteran Wende Zomnir (a.k.a. the founder of Urban Decay). However, Caliray is a completely different vibe than Urban Decay. Caliray has an airy, beachy, very SoCal feeling to its packaging and formulas. The brand is all about lightweight, easy-to-use beauty products, which is exactly where this skin tint falls.

This skin tint features a shade range of 10 hues and holds a long-lasting skin but better formula. Let me explain, in the squeezy tube are skin-nourishing ingredients like hydrating prickly pear extract, brightening vitamin C, and lesser-known ingredients triglycerides and humectant glycol (say those three times fast).

To find out more, I tapped into cosmetic chemist Ginger King who took me back to high school chemistry class. "Triglycerides are naturally present in our skin so it's a natural emollient to moisturize skin, while humectant glycols help to maintain moisture on the skin," she says. King also added that both ingredients can provide a glowy appearance in a complexion product. As a user of the product, this made me happy, it was nice knowing that while this formula will cover and keep me glowy, it was also benefiting the overall health of my skin.

Now, for the application. I chose shade The Six, a medium-light dream, as the brand calls it. The instructions on the back of the tube say to shake the formula prior to applying, which I did. I decided to skip skin care, which I know, can seem scary but because of the moisturizing and hydrating ingredient list, I figured I would be OK. I applied three to four drops of this liquid formula onto my hands and warmed it up before I slathered it onto my skin. I was pleasantly surprised with how easy it melted into my skin and how well it covered my acne and hyperpigmentation.

Truthfully, my complexion resembled my skin just, better — which was my ultimate hope and goal. I, of course, had to do a wear test as well, and folks, this skin tint lasted all day, even though a sweaty boxing class — which is super impressive to me.
