Catcher Nails the Batter in the Head with a Throw Back to the Mound
You never know for sure when you’re safe out there.
Maybe you just took a close pitch, and you’re trying to exhale. You know you need to get yourself psyched back up for the next pitch. Now is not the time to worry, though. You have a moment. The catcher hasn't even thrown the ball back to the pitcher yet. You’re fine. You’re fine.
You’re plunked:

That's Victor Caratini accidentally hitting Marwin Gonzalez in the side of the head with the throw back to the mound. It's always a slim possibility if both parties are being a little careless, but you definitely don't see it very often, if you’ve seen it at all. And never quite that hard.
Unfortunately it seems to have actually shaken Gonzalez up.
Filed under "never seen that before," Vic Caratini drills Marwin Gonzalez in the head with a throw back to the mound and he has to exit the game.
Hopefully Gonzalez will be OK eventually, and then we can just enjoy the crazy moment.
