Philadelphia police investigate fatal double shooting outside nail salon in city's Tacony section
PHILADELPHIA (WPVI) -- Philadelphia police are investigating a deadly triple shooting that killed two people outside of a nail salon on Saturday.
It happened on the 6700 block of Torresdale Avenue in the city's Tacony section just before 6 p.m.
Police say at the scene, a 44-year-old man and a 42-year-old man were found suffering gunshot wounds.
The 44-year-old was shot once in the head and pronounced dead at the scene. The 42-year-old was shot once in the abdomen and was pronounced dead a short time later.
Another victim, a 20-year-old man, was also shot and transported to Jefferson-Torrsedale Hospital where he was placed in stable condition.
A private vehicle is being held at the scene.
Neighbors in the area told Action News they are thankful and surprised more people weren't injured.
"We could hear mothers crying, saying, 'Get the children, get the children!'" recalled Nelson Rodriguez from Tacony. "It's terrible out here."
At least 19 evidence markers covered the scene from the shooting, which took place in broad daylight.
Bullet holes pierced the sides of trucks and walls in the area, indicating many shots were fired.
"It's alarming that we have at least 15 casings out here at 5 p.m.," said Inspector Francis Bachmayer with Philadelphia police.
Officials say two people are in custody and being questioned by police.
There is no word yet on what led to this shooting.
"That's always the big mystery. We never know why they're getting killed," said Rodriguez. "I can only pray for them."
Officials have not released any of the victims' identities.
