Remove Bent Nails From Pallets and Planks Without Damaging the Wood

An air hammer and a NailBoss can remove nails from lumber with ease.

Pulling nails from pallets and lumber is a time-consuming process that can damage the wood, which is a problem if you plan to reuse it. That's why we like the NailBoss, which helps you to straighten and pull nails with just a pneumatic hammer gun.

The combination NailBoss slips over the pointy end of a nail (any nail up to a quarter inch in diameter) and straightens it perpendicular to the wood. When it's attached to an air hammer gun, you need only pull the trigger and it pushes the nail down to the surface of the board, making it easy to extract from the other side using a hammer. If you don't have an air hammer, you can covert the NailBoss to be used with a standard hammer. This video demonstrates both ways to do it:

DIYers who build with pallets and craftsman who use reclaimed lumber will find this tool a time-saver. Currently only the air-powered NailBoss is available on Amazon for $36, but the combination version should be available soon.
