SEVIERVILLE, Tenn. (WATE) — Two people were arrested and one person was injured after a shooting in Sevier County, a spokesman for the Sevier County Sheriff's Office said.

On Tuesday, that deputies were on the scene of the shooting on Goose Gap Road. On Wednesday, a release from the sheriff's office said two people had been arrested.

SCSO said the shooting happened on the 2400 block of Goose Gap Road and the initial 911 call reported an injured person laying in the roadway. When officers arrived, they found a 29-year-old man who had been shot in the thigh. Police attempted to stop the bleeding and the man was taken to UT Hospital in Knoxville where he was admitted for surgery.

Investigation led detectives to a business in Pigeon Forge where William Nails, 29, of Pigeon Forge, was taken into custody on unrelated charges. Later in the evening, Timothy Galvin, 26, of Sevierville, was taken into custody at a Pigeon Forge residence.

As the investigation developed, Nails and Galvin were charged in the shooting, according to SCSO. According to the release, Nails was charged with attempted first-degree murder and Galvin was charged with accessory to attempted first-degree murder. The sheriff's office says both men are in custody at the Sevier County Jail and are awaiting arraignment in General Sessions County.

"The quick response, subsequent investigation, timely arrests, and status of the victim are a direct result of the total team effort exhibited by responding Deputies, Detectives, EMS personnel, and the citizens who cooperated with the investigation." Sheriff Michael R. Hodges said.
