18 Halloween Nail Art Designs 2022

Nov 03, 2023

Including the easiest DIY designs to impress with

It's nearly that time of year again, folks (how time flies when you're having fun). A grand ol' time where we eagerly carve ghoulish faces into pumpkins, and knock back enough spiced lattes to sink a medium-sized ship.

Yep, you guessed it: Halloween. As well as trawling the internet for sinfully sick decorations (we like to deck out our house 'cause we're extra like that), and an outfit that's the perfect amount of scary vs sexy, we also - most importantly - need our makeup and nails to look the part.

Makeup is a whole different ballgame, one which requires time, patience and relative skill (head here for all the best Halloween makeup inspo), but, if you're going to put a tonne of effort into your face, you've kinda got to give the same amount of attention to your nails, too.

Behold: Halloween nail art ideas that are anything but boring. We have great DIY options to try at home, and some you may need to head to the nail salon for (unless you happen to be blessed in the artistic skills department). Whether you fancy realllly pushing the boat out, or playing it relatively safe, there's something for everyone here, so get crafting.

And keep an eye out for links to the tools and products that will help you on your way with the designs.

Perfect for DIY attempts these stitch nails could be done with two base colours to make them even simpler, and you can play around with colour combos. Don't worry too much if your stitches are messy, it all adds to the design!

This super affordable set of five nail art brushes and dotting tools will have you well on your way to creating your own iconic claws.

But if you're looking for a more advanced stitch nail idea, this 3D set of stitched skin nails is gruesome yet... understated?

Thick, maroon blood is offset by gold foil on the ring finger on these cool, coffin nails.

If extravagant nails aren't really your thing, ask for something simple but cute, like these little ghosts.

These high-gloss, dip dyed, orange nails are finished off with webbing detail and we're very into it.

With a steady hand and some nail art pens, we reckon you're set to recreate these at home.

Another understated nail art design from the queen of subtlety, Betina Goldstein, these tiny spiders don't need to be saved for Halloween.

So simple, so effective. Ask for long, pointy nails on your first and fourth finger to recreate fangs. The red tips makes them all the more realistic. If you've got long nails you're willing to chop you could create at home, or achieve similar by buying white stiletto press ons for the four fangs. You could try clipping them square for the others, or squaring off your own nails.

Get your manicurist to try these gory nails, if they dare. Very cool, but incredibly complex, you'll have to visit a salon that really knows their stuff.

Yep, you guessed it, Betina is back with this dreamy eyeball design. Super simple, but still eye-catching. If your skills aren't top notch, why not try as a feature nail, one on each hand. You can give each more care and attention and it's more wearable through the week.

Taking inspo from cult horror film The Shining, these super long nude nails are all trick AND treat. Also a set we think we could take a pretty good crack at at home!

You don't have to have seen the film to get spooked by the terrifying clown face on these. Probably not one to try at home...

We love the attention to detail with these. While we would like to think we could do them ourself, we highly doubt it. Your best bet is to ask a skilled nail technician.

The texture of these touchy feely claws makes them one of our fave Halloween manicures. Ask for nail wraps to get a similar finish. Or experiment with DIY foils for at home gel mani's for more textured effects.

Neon nails are very much on trend atm, and we're vibing this green and purple combo. The matte, glittery pinky finger has got to be our all-time fave. We think we might try that on all our nails.

Choose a nude base not to dissimilar from your skin tone to make these designs really stand out. We love a horror movie inspired set.

The matte black base colour makes this red blood lewk just that little bit more noticeable. We're feeling it.

Try the look: Barry M Matte Top Coat Polish, £2.99

This top coat will allow you to turn any of your favourite colours matte.

If you can't face your nails being long and sharp AF (it's challenging), try a square shape like these. Alternating black with bright red gives this manicure an edge. Top it off with spiders and webs.
