Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation officials say the suspect threatened officers with the nail gun
Law enforcement officers shot and killed a man who authorities say threatened them with a nail gun during a barricade situation in northeastern Oklahoma.
Rogers County Sheriff's Office deputies responded to a report of a disturbance at Valmont Utility in Claremore. Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation officials said deputies were told that a man with a nail gun was causing a disturbance and had barricaded himself inside.
Deputies and a marshal with the Cherokee National Marshal Service tried to get the suspect out, but authorities said he was uncooperative. A news release states that the suspect threatened officers with the nail gun, and they shot him.
The suspect was pronounced dead at the scene, OSBI officials said.
Authorities identified the man as William Fairweather, 39.
Authorities – including the OSBI, FBI, Cherokee Nation Marshal Service Rogers County Sheriff's Office and Rogers County District Attorney's Office – are investigating.
