Watch Foo Fighters Cover Nine Inch Nails As Part Of Josh Freese Introduction Medley At Sonic Temple

Foo Fighters headlined the first Sonic Temple festival in three years at Historic Crew Stadium in Columbus, Ohio on Sunday. Newly minted touring drummer Josh Freese's copious drum skills were on full display during an intro segment that included a snippet of Nine Inch Nails’ "March Of The Pigs."

Foo Fighters launched the set with favorite "All My Life" from their 2002 record, One By One. Frontman Dave Grohl and company then turned to relatively newer material beginning with "No Son Of Mine" — which contained a Black Sabbath "Paranoid" tease — off their 2021 album Medicine At Midnight ahead of "Rescued" from their imminent album, But Here We Are, which arrives Friday. The band also performed "Nothing At All" and "Under You" from their forthcoming LP.

Speaking of "Under You," the band began playing the song before Dave walked them back for "Walk" followed by the classic "Times Like These." Foo then got to "Under You" ahead of more favorites in "The Pretender" and "Learn To Fly."

"Breakout" from 1999's There Is Nothing Left To Lose came next followed by "The Sky Is The Neighborhood" from the 2017 LP, Concrete & Gold. It was then time for Freese's introduction medley, which began with two songs from bands the in-demand drummer has toured with beginning with Devo's "Whip It." Josh's power and speed were apparent during a snippet of Ohio's own Nine Inch Nails’ "March of The Pigs." The segment ended with Puddle Of Mudd's "Blurry," a song on which Freese contributed to the original in the studio.

Dave then dedicated "My Hero," from the band's 1997 sophomore album, The Colour and the Shape, to renowned MTV VJ Matt Pinfield for his birthday. The vintage "This Is A Call" and new song "Nothing At All" followed before Dave went it alone for "Cold Day In The Sun," from 2005's In Your Honor, dedicated to late Foo Fighters drummer Taylor Hawkins. "These Days" then prefaced The Colour and the Shape's "Monkey Wrench" and In Your Honor's "Best Of You." The classic closer "Everlong" wrapped the festival set.
