Man arrested after gunfire, allegedly throwing roofing nails on road
TEXARKANA, Ark. -- A Miller County man has been arrested after two incidents Saturday on Union Road.
David Kemp is charged with possession of a firearm by certain person and terroristic act, according to information from the Miller County Sheriff's Office.
At 10:11 a.m. Saturday, Cpl. Glenn Gross responded to a camper fire next to 1914 Union Road. At the scene, Gross also was stopped by a man who told him the resident at the address had thrown roofing nails on the road, covering an area about 200 feet.
The camper trailer was fully engulfed and small pops and explosions could be heard coming from it, the Sheriff's Office said in a news release. The fire had spread up a utility pole and was traveling toward the power lines.
The roofing nails were swept up by the fire department.
Officials later identified Kemp as the suspect.
At approximately 2:15 p.m., Deputy Richard Conkleton responded to a call of shots fired on Union Road. The caller reported he was moving belongings from his residence onto a trailer when he heard gunshots being fired from his neighbor's property on Union Road. The caller said he heard bullets whistling over his head, so he took cover inside his vehicle.
Deputies arrived on scene and took Kemp into custody. He was booked into the Miller County Detention Center.
Bail has been set at $100,000.
