Woman nails the Guinness World Record with 42ft 10in CLAWS after not cutting them for 25 years
AS far as world records go, Diana Armstrong has this one nailed.
She is the owner of the longest fingernails on a pair of female hands, her claws measuring a staggering 42ft 10in combined.
Her nails, longer than a double-decker bus, means she is the holder of a new Guinness World Record.
Understandably, Diana, 63, has to adapt to lead a normal life with such talons.
She has given up driving after being forced to to stick her hand out of the window, and is unable to visit salons.
Diana, who hasn't cut her nails in 25 years, said: ‘Even when I was little, I always had longer fingernails.
‘My kids never knew why I was growing them. I didn't tell anybody. I kept it to myself until I finally told [my kids] why I was growing them.’
Her daughter, Latisha, manicured her mum's fingernails every weekend.
Sadly, Latisha passed away in 1997 at 16-years-old due to an asthma attack.
Just the day before she spent time polishing Diana's nails, and after her death she couldn't bear to cut them.
It's a family affair to help Diana, from Minneapolis, Minnesota, to maintain them.
Manicurists refuse to touch them, so her grandchildren help maintain them.
It takes them five hours to polish and file them.
Diana surpasses the previous record holder by 18ft 9.7in.
